Wiccan Religion and Wiccan Sex Symbols

Sex and religion are not usually two topics you see discussed together. Many mainstream religions consider sex sinful or taboo. Wiccan Sex symbols actually play a prominent role in the Wiccan religion.

Wiccan Religion and Wiccan Sex SymbolsIn many religions, sex is seen as sinful to a great extent. Usually, it"s not up for debate and is reserved for married people only. Most people don"t think about their God having sex, and God"s sex life is non-existent.

On the other hand, because things are unusual in Wicca, often they are misinterpreted. Sex has a prominent place within Wiccan religion because its main focus is fertility. Sex is weaved with various rituals, beliefs, rites, and myths. For them, sex is not just the sex act.

Wiccan Religion

If you ask most people what Wiccan religion is, you"ll probably hear it"s a "nature-based faith." One has to take into consideration that nature is not blinked into existence. Nature means sex.

Sex, of course, is pleasurable, is a feeling of love, and it"s how we bring children into our lives. But thinking beyond the mechanics of human sex, it ensures the reproduction of most species and the preservation of life.

Fruit-bearing plants reproduce sexually. Life on the planet exists on it just because it is fertile. The birds and the bees have it right: sex is what life is about.

You will find everywhere in Wiccan religion fertility symbols and symbols of sexuality. They reflect the productivity of nature. As the farmer plants the seed in the ground, so man plants a seed of life in the woman.

If we look at the Wheel of the Year, we will see that revolves around the farming cycle, that revolves around the Earth"s fertility. Traditional mythology associated with the cycles of the seasons revolves around sex. The Goddess and God have sex, she becomes pregnant, he dies and is reborn of the Goddess. Thus the cycle is immortalized. Wiccan religion teaches us is that the sexual energies of the Divine are weaved with the Wiccan Religion and Wiccan Sex Symbolsfertility cycles in nature.

Wiccan Sex Symbols

Wiccans use various altar tools with a lot of sexual symbolism aligned with a gender. Yonic symbols are associated with the female gender and represent the vagina and the womb. They"re usually passive and receptive. Phallic symbols are tools related to the male and represent the penis and are active and projective.
